Our performance

Each year, the Trust measures how it performed against a number of government set targets, designed to make sure patients have quick and easy access to the most important hospital services.

  • Key standards - 2010/11 The financial year for 2010/11 ended on 31 March and it is the point at which we are measured against most of the standards the government sets for hospitals. Doing well against these means we are providing our patients with the best possible care within the resources and finances allocated to us.
  • Regular performance indicators This page shows our report on performance indicators like emergency readmission rates, referral to treatment 18 weeks and complaint response time. It will be updated every month after the Trust Board meeting.
  • Regular report of infection control figures This section shows figures for the number of cases of particular infections which have been identified in our hospitals. This includes Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteraemia, Clostridium difficile (C. difficile), Methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and Eschericia coli (E. coli) infections.
  • A&E (accident and emergency) department: performance As a Trust, we are committed to providing the highest level of care to all of our patients, including the 130,000 people we see in our A&E (accident and emergency) departments each year.
  • Care Quality Commission registration The Trust is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with no conditions. On 1 April 2010, the healthcare watchdog awarded Epsom, Sutton and St Helier hospitals a licence to provide services under a new set of tougher rules and regulations.
  • Quality Accounts Report The Trust's quality accounts outline the Trust's approach to quality improvement, progress made during 2009-10 and plans for the forthcoming year.
  • Patient surveys Patient surveys are of great importance to the Trust and are a barometer of how good a job we are doing in making sure our patients have the best possible experience in our hospitals.
  • Staff survey Download the results from the most recent National Staff Survey, and previous surveys.
  • Financial performance 2009-10 posed considerable challenges so that the Trust could meet its full financial duties. The setting up of the service improvement and savings plan (SISP) acted as the framework to help the Trust generate £16 million in savings.
  • Patient Environment Action Team Assessments Every year, standards of the hospital environment - including cleanliness - and food in all trusts providing in-patient services in England are inspected by the National Patient Safety Agency. Both Epsom and St Helier hospitals achieved a GOOD rating in 2011.
  • Dr Foster Hospital Guide Dr Foster is an independent organisation dedicated to helping patients make informed decisions about their health by comparing the performance of NHS trusts and evaluating the levels of NHS quality throughout the UK.
  • What people say about our hospitals Each month, we publish our latest overall rating for each of our hospitals. These are percentages and relate to the number of patients who said they would recommend the hospital to a friend.
  • Monthly complaints update This page contains figures of complaints received in 2011-12. The figures will be updated on a monthly basis.
