The Trust is extremely fortunate to have a loyal army of volunteers who give much time, energy and enthusiasm to Epsom, St Helier, Queen Mary's and Sutton hospitals.
We are profoundly grateful to the volunteers who support our work, giving up much of their own time to benefit our patients and support our staff.
In 2009-10, our 487 volunteers gave up more than 100,000 hours to work with us and raised over £500,000 to buy new equipment.
What do volunteers do?
Volunteers help our patients and staff in many different ways, from assisting with patient feeding and offering support when they are discharged, to providing complementary therapies and helping with admin tasks.
We also run a student volunteer programme for students interested in healthcare as a career. This six-month programme focuses on patient awareness, with weekly volunteering sessions on the wards, complemented by monthly workshops.
Interested in volunteering?
We are always keen to hear from potential volunteers, whatever skills you may have, and whatever age you are (above the age of 17). Our youngest volunteer is 17 and the oldest is 92.
You can volunteer either directly through the Trust or through one of the voluntary organisations that supports us.
