Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) programme 2017-19

The Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) payment framework is a national initiative. Each financial year, we agree a set of quality improvement goals with our commissioners with financial incentives attached. These schemes are designed to improve the quality and efficiency of services that we provide for our patients.

Delivery of the full CQUIN programme is overseen by a steering group, chaired by one of our Medical Directors and attended by the clinical and operational leads for each project. The group meet on a monthly basis.

The CQUIN framework was first introduced in 2009-2010; we joined the initiative in 2010-11. Our CQUIN payment framework targets are based on agreement with commissioners. You can read more about CQUINs on NHS England's website (opens in a new window).
