The Trust is committed to providing the best, and safest, possible care for our patients.

With reduced waiting times, recent improvements in our rating from the Care Quality Commission, and plans to redevelop St Helier hospital with a state-of-the-art building, the Trust is making excellent progress.

As part of this progress, the Trust is committed to improving the way we communicate with GPs, and forging stronger links with our colleagues in primary care.

We know patients benefit when GPs are kept up-to-date with the latest information about the services we offer, the latest referral information, how we are performing against a range of targets, and what we are doing to further improve patient care in our hospitals.

  • GP liaison office Our GP liaison office, complete with dedicated hotline and email address is now up and running, and ready to assist you with any issues that need addressing.
  • e-doctor: our regular newsletter e-doctor is a regular update from Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust for our local GPs and other primary care partners.
  • Events for GPs This section lists a number of events for local GPs
  • How to refer patients to the Trust The Trust prefers to receive referrals via Choose and Book. This allows the referring practice to provide any necessary support for people who might have difficulty booking an appointment. Outpatient appointments can also be booked through two centralised outpatient booking offices; one at Epsom Hospital and one at St Helier Hospital.
  • Visit our pathology services pages Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive pathology service to GPs and other healthcare workers. The service comprises laboratory tests, examination of samples of blood, cells and tissues from patients, and plays an important role in diagnosing diseases.
  • Patient Transport Service We have a patient transport service for patients who need it (ie those patients who are medically unable to travel to hospital on their own).
  • Infection control The dedication and commitment of our staff and volunteers has been the driving force behind another consecutive year of reducing healthcare acquired infections, including MRSA and Clostridium difficile.
  • Referral guidelines for suspected cancers To facilitate the process of referring a patient for a specialist opinion, the South West London Cancer Network has developed an advice pack for local GPs. This document contains the criteria and guidelines for each cancer type, which are based on NICE guidelines with minor additions/adjustments where necessary (based on the clinical experience and expertise available within the SWLCM).
