As part of the local community, we are happy to provide young pupils and graduates the opportunity to gain valuable insight and exposure to many working departments within the Trust.
With attachments available in A&E, Medicine, Surgery, Midwifery, Paediatrics and in the Laboratories, the placements are one week in length and consist of shadowing and observing a dedicated firm or ward within the Trust.
Students on placement will have the opportunity to gain general knowledge of the specialty, be present on clinical ward rounds and where appropriate, observe theatres. Students can also use the experience to develop and hone necessary communication skills by interacting with patients and staff alike.
The weekly placements are timetabled from 9am-4pm, Monday through to Friday and run throughout the year.
Prospective applicants will be required to complete an application form and various health and background checks prior to confirmation of attachment.
It is also advisable for the student to obtain a reference letter from their school and return along with an up to date CV with the application paperwork.
Upon confirmation of placement, the Trust will issue the student with a contract detailing the terms and conditions and also reporting instructions for their first day.
For students considering work experience within the trust, please contact your School Careers Advisor who will nominate you for a placement.
