Acronym and jargon buster

Acronyms are abbreviations that are formed using the initial components in a phrase or name. These components may be individual letters or parts of words.

An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or a phrase.

Jargon is terminology which has been especially defined in relationship to a specific activity, profession, or group. Jargon covers the language used by people who work in a particular area or who have a common interest. In many cases jargon may cause a barrier to communication with those not familiar with the language of the field.
