Epsom and Ewell Art Group
19 November 2008
Over thirty pieces of art were donated to Epsom Hospital today to celebrate the joint 60th birthday of the NHS and the Epsom and Ewell art group.
The group, which has nearly 70 members, donated paintings depicting local scenes, landscapes and flowers.
The group's joint Chairs, David Tribe and Judy Staight, presented Samantha Jones, Chief Executive of the Trust, with the work at Epsom Hospital.
Samantha said: "This is an extremely generous gift by the Epsom and Ewell art group, made even more special by the fact that both the group and the NHS are celebrating their 60th birthdays.
"It really will brighten up ward and corridor areas around the hospital and I know that our staff, volunteers and patients will like these lovely pictures."
Anne Ali, a member of the group, said: "As our group and the NHS are both celebrating their 60th birthdays this year, we thought it would be appropriate to donate our work to Epsom Hospital.
"Many of our members have either had first hand experience of Epsom Hospital as a patient or know a family member or close friend who have been treated there. These paintings are just a small way for us to say happy birthday to the NHS and to thank the staff and volunteers of Epsom Hospital for all their hard work."
