More than fifty budding artists visited St Helier Hospital recently to hand over get well cards they had made for elderly patients. The artists, all pupils from Muschamp Primary School in Carshalton, designed the cards before handing them to ward manager Jolita Zamani and healthcare assistant Sandra Board.
Both greeted the pupils outside the hospital before explaining their roles and the types of conditions they treat. They also answered a number of questions from the six and seven year-olds.
Jolita is manager of B3 - a ward that cares for elderly patients who have fractured their bones as a result of falls. She said: "The patients on my ward were delighted to receive the cards. It really brightened up their day."
Muschamp Primary School is a two form entry school with a highly successful inclusive 52 place base for children with speech and language difficulties.
Teacher Mrs Michelle Jenkins said: "Our visit to St Helier Hospital gave them a fantastic insight into the workings of a busy hospital ward - they all want to be doctors and nurses now!"
