  • Senior pharmacist offers advice to local residents about teething gels Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust's most senior pharmacist has issued a warning to the local community about the risks associated with people under the age of 16 using teething gels and mouth ulcer treatments that contain salicylate salts, which work in a similar way to aspirin. 29 April 2009

  • Help is at hand for hearing-impaired patients One of the hearing loops in St Helier Hospital's main receptionLocal residents who are hearing-impaired are likely to find communicating with staff at Epsom, Sutton and St Helier hospitals easier from now on. That's because the Disability Information Centre Epsom (DICE) - a service based at Epsom Hospital - has recently purchased three portable hearing loops for patients to use when visiting the hospitals. 24 April 2009

  • High Sheriff comes under pressure at Epsom Hospital High Sheriff of Surrey visiting the new neutral pressure room at Epsom HospitalThe High Sheriff of Surrey 2008-09, Sally Varah, visited Epsom Hospital recently to officially open the hospital's new cutting-edge neutral pressure room, which cost nearly ¼ million pounds. The room means that patients with severe respiratory illnesses, such as tuberculosis (TB) can be isolated from other people, preventing it from spreading to other patients. 22 April 2009

  • Changing lives with new cutting-edge service The lives of chronically ill kidney patients are being transformed, thanks to a new service that was tested uniquely at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Trust. The service - the first of its kind in Britain - allows certain types of dialysis patients to undergo their treatment at home, giving them extra freedom to enjoy their spare time. 03 April 2009

Since a new website for the trust was launched in February, visitors from as far away as Bolivia, Cambodia and Namibia have logged on to find out more.   • Multi-million pound makeover for hospitals Nick GorvettMore than nine million pounds is set to be spent on improving hospital facilities within Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust this year. The plans, announced earlier this week, will see 9.15 million pounds ploughed into upgrading hospital equipment and facilities across the three Trust sites. 01 April 2009
