The biggest birthday bash of the year is set to take place next weekend as Queen Mary's Hospital for Children continues to celebrate its centenary year with a summer fete.
The fete, which will be held in Sutton Arena on Saturday 22 August from 12noon - 4pm, promises to be a great day out for all of the family with a host of fun activities and entertaining acts running throughout the afternoon.
And as children get in for free and adult's tickets cost just £1, it's a great way to keep everyone entertained without breaking the bank.
The Queen Mary's bear will open the fete, with a little help from the Corps of Drum Society, a London-based drum, bugle and flute band. Then over in the arena the Metropolitan Police will put their canine counterparts through their paces with a dog show, the Kay Ryan Academy of Irish Dancers will be strutting their stuff and Theo the magician will be wowing the crowds with his magic tricks. And not forgetting the London Fire Brigade, who will be there with a fire engine.
All of that will be surrounded by more than 50 stalls, games, raffles and a bouncy castle.
Sue Collis, organiser and senior children's nurse for Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "This promises to be a brilliant day. There'll be absolutely loads of things to do and see, so we're really confident that everyone who attends will have a great time. And it's for a good cause too, so people can have fun and raise money to help sick children."
All money raised by the fete will go directly to the centenary fund of Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, which will be used to buy new state-of-the-art equipment for the hospital and to build an outside play area for the patients.
