Trust appoints new Non-Executive Director

Nilkunj Dodhia

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Nilkunj Dodhia as a Non-Executive Director.

Mr Dodhia, who lives in Worcester Park, is Managing Director of Soundscape, a company that specialises in providing media services for passenger transport vehicles.

Prior to this, he was Head of Business Development (Europe) for a mobile phone software company and a Senior Strategy Consultant for the accountants PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Mr Dodhia is a Chartered Accountant and has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD in France. He gained an honours degree in economics and management studies at Cardiff University and speaks four languages, including Spanish and Hindi.

Mr Dodhia said: "I am excited to be joining the Epsom and St Helier Board. The Trust has very challenging plans which will further improve the care it provides to the people of Sutton, Merton, Epsom and beyond. I look forward to playing a key role.

Asked why he decided to join the Board, Mr Dodhia added: "Approximately three years ago, I was involved in a near-fatal road traffic accident and spent several months under the care of the NHS. The excellent support and first class care I received made me want to give something back. This is my way of saying thank you for what the NHS did for me."

Trust Chairman John Davey said: "I am delighted to welcome Nilkunj to the Trust Board. He brings a range of experience and knowledge that will further strengthen the Board and add greatly to the effectiveness of our work."

Mr Dodhia's four-year term officially began on 1 January 2009. The remuneration for the Non-Executive Director post is £6,005 per annum. He does not have political or other interests which have to be declared and holds no ministerial appointments.

Mr Dodhia will sit on two Board committees: audit and workforce.
