Patients and visitors to Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust can now access a wealth of information about the organisation with just a touch of a button. This follows the launch today (23 February 2009) of a brand new website (www.epsom-sthelier.nhs.uk).

The new site, which has more than 430 pages, includes helpful information about the services on offer, all of the latest news and a history of the hospitals. Patients and visitors can check the website for everything, from what to bring with them to what is available once they're here.

The site also includes directions to the Trust's hospitals, and other locations where we offer services. There are also maps of the hospitals and a directory of the Trust's 55 wards.

Web manager for the Trust, Alex Schleif, was in charge of designing the website. He said: "The internet is now so commonly used by so many people that an easy to use, up-to-date website is incredibly important. It's often the first thing that visitors and patients will look at before coming to the hospitals, and in that sense, our website is as important as our front door. We want to offer everyone coming here a warm and friendly welcome, and that's exactly what our new website will do.

"The site has a lot of information for patients and visitors but it's also a great resource for people who are interested in working for the Trust, other healthcare professionals and the general public."

Each section of the website is colour coded so that visitors to the site can instantly see which content is likely to be relevant to them. It also gives Trust's many teams and departments the opportunity to communicate their services and successes to the public: a vital tool to increase both awareness and referrals.

Alex added: "Websites should never stand still. I'd encourage everyone to have a look at the site and let us know if anything needs changing or could be improved."

The site was tested by over 30 people who represented a cross section of the Trust's audience " including patients, volunteers, GPs and people with disabilities " to help ensure it works for everybody.
