  • Get Britain Breastfeeding exhibition arrives at St Helier Hospital Infant Feeding Advisor Sue Taylor, and lead midwife, Carolyn Romer (from left)For one week only, St Helier Hospital will be home to a prestigious art exhibition about breastfeeding. The Get Britain Breastfeeding exhibition went on display in the Retreat restaurant to promote the benefits of breastfeeding and will be up for all to see until 30 July 2009. 29 July 2009
  • 'Light, bright and totally welcoming' new baby unit opens One of the neonatal sisters in the new unitParents of sick or premature babies can now get the very best of care for their children in a really welcoming atmosphere, thanks to a £200,000 refurbishment of the neonatal intensive care unit at St Helier Hospital. The unit, which officially opened its doors on Thursday 16 July 2009, has undergone a top-to-toe refurbishment, including new floors, painted walls and a brand new reception area. 24 July 2009
  • Kidney nurse dives into international competition Sue Woodcock, competing in the London Triathlon, emerging from the Royal Albert Docks after a 1500m swimA nurse from St Helier Hospital will soon be swimming for Great Britain as she dives into the European Masters Championship later this year. Lead nurse in the renal (kidney) unit, Sue Woodcock will be donning the GB swimming cap and taking to the water in the international competition, held in Cadiz, Southern Spain, in September. 22 July 2009

  • It's 'good' for patients at Epsom and St Helier hospitals Pippa Hart, Director of Nursing Standards and Quality AssuranceA national survey, which involves patients and members of the public, has shown that the food, environment and levels of privacy and dignity provided at both Epsom and St Helier hospitals are 'good'. Figures from this year's PEAT (Patient Environment Action Team) assessment, which was undertaken in February, show that the Trust scored highly across a number of standards relating to the hospital's environment. 09 July 2009
  • Clostridium difficile cases continue to fall at hospitals The number of patients being infected by Clostridium difficile (also known as C. difficile) at Epsom, St Helier and Sutton hospitals continued to fall during the first part of this year, according to new figures published by the Health Protection Agency. 08 July 2009

  • Hospitals record lowest MRSA figures since records began Infection control poster Samantha JonesNew figures released by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show that the number of cases of MRSA (bacteraemia) at the Trust's three hospitals during 2008/09 are the lowest since records began. The new data also shows the Trust recorded six cases of MRSA between January and March 2009, compared with nine the previous quarter. 02 July 2009
  • Children get all fired up at hospital nursery Tyler Seymour (right) in the driver's cabChildren at The Willows Nursery, which is based at Sutton Hospital, got a taste for life as a firefighter recently (24 June) when two fire engines and eight firefighters paid them a visit. The children got the chance to turn on the siren, test out a hose and sit inside the fire engines while learning the very basics about fire safety. 02 July 2009
