Children at The Willows Nursery, which is based at Sutton Hospital, got a taste for life as a firefighter recently (24 June) when two fire engines and eight firefighters paid them a visit.
The children got the chance to turn on the siren, test out a hose and sit inside the fire engines while learning the very basics about fire safety.
Caroline Thomas, manager of the nursery said: "The children had a fantastic day - they absolutely loved it.
"They are really interested in all of the emergency services at the moment, and love to dress up as firefighters and police officers. Because they're so interested in it all, we thought it was perfect timing to invite the fire brigade along to really capture their imaginations and keep them interested."
The 'blue watch' firefighters and appliances came from Sutton Fire Station and stayed at the nursery for an hour.
A spokesman from London Fire Brigade said: "Our firefighters find visits like this really enjoyable - it's a great chance for them to teach children more about the job they do and the dangers of fire. Hopefully, this occasion will be remembered by the children for years to come, and could even help them to cut the risk of fire as they get older."
