The Elective Orthopaedic Centre (EOC), which is based at Epsom Hospital, marked another successful year recently, as it published its annual report for the 2008/09 financial year.
The report gives an overview of the work of the EOC during the year, including a number of key achievements. This includes coming 5th in the top 100 healthcare organisations and increasing the number of patients seen and treated by the department. In fact, the number of referrals to the EOC has doubled in the past three years.
Director of the EOC, Brian Wells said: "We're very pleased with this year's annual report. Not only does it look good, but it also goes some way in acknowledging all of the hard work and dedication that goes into making the EOC the success that it is.
"It was a tough year, but we still performed very well. We have total team focus - every member of our team believes passionately in providing each patient with the best possible care, and I think that really shows in the service we provide.
"We didn't do as well financially as we expected, but it's a tough climate for everyone at the moment and we are still very pleased with our performance. We're still growing and thriving, and sustaining the high level of care that our patients receive.
"We also celebrated our fifth birthday this year, which was a huge milestone for us. Celebrating five years of the EOC is an incredible achievement.
"But that's not to say that we'll become complacent about the things that we have achieved. The worst possible thing that a successful organisation can do is coast - and we're certainly not about to do that. We're going to take every opportunity possible to push forward and continue to improve."
