  • News just in - Sir Trevor McDonald visits hospital Sir Trevor McDonald paid a special visit to Epsom Hospital last week to officially present a new piece of equipment to the histology department.The news presenter and broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald visited Epsom Hospital on Tuesday (20 October) to present a brand new piece of equipment to the histopathology department. Sir Trevor visited the Trust to present a writer machine - a state-of-the-art device that prints a unique patient identification number and barcode on tissue samples - on behalf of the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund. 28 October 2009
  • An opportunity to hear hospital development plans Epsom HospitalResidents from across Epsom and the surrounding areas are being invited to attend a public meeting to hear more about plans for redeveloping the Epsom Hospital site. The meeting, organised by the Trust in partnership with NHS Surrey and Epsom & Ewell Borough Council, will take place on Wednesday 11 November from 7.30pm - 9pm in Epsom Town Hall. 27 October 2009
  • Pensioner stays young at heart 21 years after major organ transplant Jacqueline Ladbroke, from SuttonTwenty one is a special age for anyone, but for one patient at St Helier Hospital, that number is certainly something to celebrate, as she marks 21 years since her combined heart and lung transplant. Sutton resident Jacqueline Ladbroke, aged 69, underwent her heart and lung transplant on October 31 1988, after being diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. 26 October 2009

  • New initiative to support prisoners with hepatitis LaiTing Tan and Dr Guan LimInmates with hepatitis C at High Down and Downview prisons are benefiting from a new scheme launched by Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The initiative, which involves a doctor and nurse from the Trust visiting the prisons, helps ensure inmates with the illness get treated quickly and saves them from having to be brought into hospital. 08 October 2009
  • Investing in your comfort - Trust spends £100,000 on new beds and mattresses Auxiliary nurse Marta Pacala, staff nurse Darla Phillips and ward sister Claire Fisher with one of the new bedsPatients at Epsom and St Helier hospitals are sleeping a little easier, thanks to an investment of £100,000 in brand new mattresses and beds. The money paid for 200 new mattresses, which if they were stacked up end to end, would be taller than the Empire State Building - the third tallest skyscraper in America. 05 October 2009
