Trust Chief Executive Samantha Jones returned to work this week following seven months' maternity leave and having given birth to twins in May.
Samantha said: "I would like to thank all of the patients, local people, staff and volunteers who sent me messages of support following the birth of Leo and Ellie. Both are doing very well and my husband and I are extremely proud of them.
"I am pleased to be back at work and I am looking forward to leading the Trust as we continue to build upon the successes of recent years, in particular further reducing the time it takes for patients to get treated and improving the experience they have in our hospitals".
Samantha returns at a critical time for the Trust, with plans afoot to spend millions of pounds on the Trust’s two main hospitals. A proposal to invest £219 million redeveloping St Helier is currently awaiting approval by the Department of Health, whilst plans to spend up to £70 million on the Epsom site are to be presented to the Trust Board in November.
Samantha is spending the week working alongside Peter Coles, who, as interim Chief Executive, covered her maternity leave. Peter will leave on Friday (16 October).
Samantha added: "I would like to thank Peter for taking on the stewardship of the Trust. Peter has been extremely complimentary of the Trust, its staff and volunteers and we wish him all the best for the future."
