Ever wondered what it would be like to sit on the Board of a large, multi-million pound organisation? Well now could be your chance to find out - thanks to an informal opening evening taking place at St Helier Hospital.

As one of the Trust's Non-Executive Directors comes to the end of her term in office, the recruitment process has begun to fill the vacancy. As part of that process, an information evening is being held so that prospective candidates can find out more about the work of the Trust and the role of the Board.

Those attending the evening will also have the chance to meet and talk to the Trust's Chief Executive, the Chairman and a number of Non-Executive and Executive Directors.

John Davey, Trust Chairman, said: "Non-Executive Directors play a crucial role in the running of our hospitals and, as part of the Board, help to set the Trust's strategic direction and to ensure high standards of clinical and corporate governance.

"The Board also oversees our financial stewardship and makes sure that the Trust is doing all it possibly can to engage and communicate with our patients and the local population."

Non-Executive Directors bring to the Board their skills and experience gained from across a number of diverse backgrounds. The Trust's current Non-Executive Directors include an accountant, a professor and a former Director of Housing for a large council.

John added: "If you have significant or senior level managerial experience gained in a complex organisation, and would like to become involved in an exciting organisation that serves 420,000 people, then come along to the information meeting".

The role requires two days a month working time and pays approximately £6,000 a year. Non-Executive Directors serve a term of up to four years each.

The event will take place in the Executive Conference Room (just to the left of the main reception hall) at St Helier Hospital on Wednesday 30 September from 5.30pm.

To find out more about the event, please call Lisa Avis, the PA to the Chief Executive on 020 8296 2267. Application packs are available from www.appointments.org.uk/vacancies or www.peoplewho.org.uk.
