  • 'My son was dangerously ill with meningitis' Samantha Jones and her son LeoThe Chief Executive of Epsom, St Helier and Sutton hospitals is making a heartfelt plea to local parents, asking them to be aware of the risks and symptoms of meningitis. Last year, when Samantha Jones' baby twins, Leo and Ellie, were just seven weeks old, Leo contracted meningitis and was left fighting for his life. Now, because the number of cases of meningitis peaks at this time of year, Samantha is speaking out about her family's experience. 26 February 2010
  • 'Miracle' baby arrives after 18 miscarriages Angie Baker and Raiya 1A woman who suffered 18 miscarriages has given birth to a healthy baby girl named Raiya, thanks to a pioneering technique of diagnosing and treating multiple miscarriages developed at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. Angie Baker (33) had been trying to have a baby for 13 years, but although doctors could not diagnose what was causing it, she repeatedly suffered a miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy. 18 February 2010
  • Website takes strides, not baby steps, in first year Alex Schleif, web managerNew figures show that the number of visitors to the Trust's website has reached an all-time high - just as the site approaches the first anniversary of its launch. Almost 12 months ago, the website for Epsom and St Helier University Hospital NHS Trust was re-launched, complete with a full ward directory, directions to the Trust's hospitals and details of the our plans for the future. 18 February 2010

Paul Burstow MP, Kay Sonneborn and Samantha Jones unveiled a plaque at a joint celebration for patients, carers and staff. 16 February 2010
  • Trust gears up for Dignity Action Day Acting sister for care of the elderly, Tammy Tantamco showing off our new red pegsAs part of its commitment to ensuring all patients are treated with the utmost dignity and privacy, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust will be marking the first ever national Dignity Action Day later this month. Dignity Action Day, which will be held on Thursday 25 February, has been organised by the Department of Health to raise awareness about the importance of dignity in healthcare. 16 February 2010

The visit, which was organised to give Anne and Philippa the opportunity to find out more about the work of the Trust, began with a tour of the hospital's renal unit, which is one of the largest and most successful in the country. 09 February 2010

Students from year 10 (age 14 - 15) came into the hospital to hear matron Tanya Fuller and staff nurses Barbara Amoah-Young and Dawn Gibbons talk about what qualifications, skills and knowledge you need to become a nurse or matron. 08 February 2010

  • Paintings donated to hospital in memory of 'loving mother' From left: sister Kim Lee, Stephanie Newark, senior staff nurse Janice Smith and the creator of the painting, Jan CheesemanThe daughter of a patient at Epsom Hospital has collected and donated 50 paintings to the hospital in memory of her mother. Stephanie Newark from Epsom decided to donate paintings to be hung in the single rooms in the wards of the hospital following the sad death of her 91 year old mother, Olive, who was a patient at Epsom several times and who spent much of her time there in single rooms. 02 February 2010
