A message from the Chief Executive, Samantha Jones
4 January 2010
For many, today will be the first day back at work after the start of the new year. As such, I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Trust Board to wish all of our patients and local residents a healthy, happy and prosperous 2010.
With a new year comes new year's resolutions. From getting fit to giving up smoking, there are an array of commitments that we make at this time of year.
For the Trust, I have three key resolutions:
-
To further improve the experience patients have in our hospitals, for instance keeping waiting times to a minimum, continuing to reduce the incidence of healthcare acquired infections and treating all patients with the utmost dignity and respect;
-
To ensure our finances are well managed - we must continue to improve the efficiency of our services and make sure we get the best value for money in everything we do;
-
To drive forward our plans to spend millions of pounds redeveloping both the Epsom and St Helier hospital sites - 2010 will be a pivotal year for these projects.
The Trust Board will not be able to deliver these resolutions on its own, with every member of staff and volunteer having an important role to play in making them happen. We will also rely heavily on the continued support and goodwill of our patients, local residents and other stakeholders.
Last year was our most successful year ever and I have thanked our staff and volunteers for this. However, as we go into 2010, I have asked them not only to keep up the good work, but to strive to do things even better, going above and beyond the call of duty whenever they can.
I am very proud of the Trust and I know just how successful it can be. I am also sure that all of our staff and volunteers will do all they can to be part of that success throughout the year.
Kind regards,
Samantha Jones
Chief Executive
