  • Trust launches drive to be even more open about infections Hand washingEpsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is launching a new scheme to give patients, visitors and local people more information than ever before about healthcare acquired infection rates at its hospitals. The Trust, which sees hundreds of thousands of patients every year, will today (28 June) start to publish weekly information about the number of cases of MRSA (bacteraemia) and C. difficile at Epsom, Sutton and St Helier hospitals. 28 June 2010

  • Kidney patients given more freedom with home treatment Margaret and William Watkinson learn how to dialyse at homeA drive to increase the number of kidney patients receiving treatment in their own home has been launched by the Trust. More patients are being encouraged to take up 'Home Haemo', a programme which teaches suitable patients how to dialyse in their home, giving them more freedom and more control over their condition and their treatment. 21 June 2010
  • Green fruit and vegetables go on sale at hospital The Veg VanAn eco-friendly initiative to bring locally-sourced fruit and vegetables to the patients, staff and visitors at St Helier Hospital has been launched. The Veg Van, a converted milk float that is powered by electricity, rolled into the hospital grounds and set up stall in the Re:treat restaurant, offering people the chance to buy fresh, local and seasonal fruit and vegetables. 21 June 2010
  • It's full steam ahead for St Helier redevelopment View of the new building from Wrythe LanePlans to spend £219 million redeveloping St Helier Hospital have been given the go-ahead by the new coalition Government. The proposals, which were agreed by the last Government in March, had been subject to a review by HM Treasury along with £34 billion of other projects from across the UK. 18 June 2010
  • Car parking at our hospitals Samantha Jones, Chief ExecutiveYou might be aware that the Trust has appeared in a number of TV, radio and newspaper stories today (9 June 2010) in relation to car parking at our hospitals, in particular the use of clamps on cars which are parked where they should not be. I would like to use this message to address the points raised in the media, but also to ask our patients and local people to engage in a review of how car parking will be managed at our hospitals in the future. 09 June 2010
  • Epsom Hospital goes from 'good' to 'excellent' Epsom HospitalA national survey, which involves patients and members of the public, has shown that the food at Epsom Hospital has further improved over the past year. Figures from this year's PEAT (Patient Environment Action Team) assessment, which was undertaken in February, show that the Trust scored highly across a number of standards relating to the hospital's environment. 02 June 2010
  • Survey results stay 'good' for St Helier St Helier HospitalSt Helier Hospital has been rated as 'good' for a number of standards relating to the hospital's environment. That's according to a national survey involving patients and members of the public. The PEAT (Patient Environment Action Team) assessment, which was undertaken in February, looks at range of factors that could affect a patient's experience during their stay at the hospital. 02 June 2010
  • Trust expert warns local people to keep an eye out for glaucoma Lynn Ring, clinical nurse specialistAn eye expert from Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is warning local people of the dangers of glaucoma, a condition which can cause blindness.   • Fitness fans going the distance for newborn babies Brian Wright in actionTwo fitness fanatics will each do three marathons in one day to raise money for the neonatal unit at St Helier hospital next Saturday (5 June). Personal trainer at LA Fitness in Banstead, Brian Wright and his client Richard Tait, are both preparing to row 26 miles, cycle 26 miles and run 26 miles for the cause - a staggering total of 78 miles each. 01 June 2010
