An annual award ceremony to celebrate the hard work, innovation and long service of staff from Epsom, St Helier and Sutton hospitals took place last week.

More than 200 members of staff and their guests attended the prestigious awards, which were hosted at Epsom Racecourse on Thursday (17 June).

The 13 categories for the awards included The Chairman's Cup for the individual or team that has made the most significant contribution to improving the experience patients have in our hospitals and the Patient Choice award, which is nominated for and judged by patients.

In addition, staff who have been with the Trust or NHS for 15 years or more are thanked for their long service. This year, 67 members of staff were given framed certificates for 15 years at the Trust, 37 were rewarded for 25 years NHS service and six for 40 years service with the NHS - that's a combined service of 2,130 years.

Chief Executive Samantha Jones said: "Every year at the awards ceremony, I hear the finest examples of how our staff are going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our patients are getting the best possible care - and it never fails to amaze me. Hearing those stories is a very humbling experience.

"It is clear that our staff are determined to make a difference to patients' lives and, whether that's through the direct care that they deliver to our patients or by working hard behind the scenes to ensure services run smoothly and effectively, everyone is doing all they can to provide the very best service.

"I am so very proud of every person who won an award and so pleased to be able to recognise the achievements of some of our key players and teams."
