19 November 2010
A midwife who specialises in home births at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is running special workshops so that local parents-to-be can find out more about having their baby at home.
The free workshops, which are run by the Trust's home birth midwife, Maria Mills Shaw, are aimed at anyone who would like to know more about home births. The sessions are open to everyone - whether you're already expecting a baby or just planning to start a family.
The next workshops will be held on:
-
28 November 2010 - Conference room two, 2nd floor, Wells Wing, Epsom Hospital.
-
30 January 2011 - Antenatal clinic, maternity unit, St Helier Hospital
The workshops start at 2pm and there's no need to book.
Maria Mills Shaw said: "These workshops are a great way to find out more about giving birth at home and there will be a team of experienced midwives on hand to answer any questions you may have. There will also be the opportunity to talk to parents who have recently had a home birth and find out first-hand what the experience was like for them.
"Everyone is welcome to come along - if you're already pregnant you may be able to change your birth plan as long as it's safe to do so and, if you're not pregnant just yet, now could be the perfect time to do some research."
