  • Appeal for memories on eve of St Helier Hospital facelift St Helier Hospital being built (circa 1937)Aside from the odd 'nip and tuck' here and there, St Helier Hospital has been a familiar landmark on the skyline of Sutton since 1938. Now, on the eve of its £219 million redevelopment, the Trust is appealing to former staff to share their memories in an exhibition before the face of the hospital changes forever. 26 August 2011
  • Criteria announced for judging new hospital partners Janet SawkinsThe special board in charge of demerging Epsom and St Helier hospitals to ensure they achieve foundation trust status has announced the criteria by which the organisations bidding to partner them will be judged. Hundreds of local people, patients and staff were consulted on the criteria which will be used to measure the final bids. 18 August 2011
  • New maternity unit officially opens The official opening of the Epsom maternity assessment unitA new maternity assessment unit, where women can get advice and treatment if they are suffering from complications during their pregnancy, was officially opened at Epsom Hospital recently. A crowd of VIPs and staff gathered to watch as the plaque was unveiled at the new unit, which offers expectant parents a short notice, same-day service should they have any concerns or need support. 17 August 2011
  • St Helier Hospital unveils brand new urgent care centre The Urgent Care Centre (fronted here by emergency department Dr Carole Ann Johnson and local GP Dr Jonathan Cockbain) will mean patients who do not require emergency care will get the most appropriate form of care and treatment.Patients attending the emergency department (A&E) at St Helier Hospital last week were among the first to have the chance to be treated in a brand new 'urgent care centre'. The centre, which forms part of the emergency department, opened on 1 August 2011, and provides care for patients who do not need emergency, life-saving treatment. 16 August 2011
  • Grand designs - fashion show raises £1,000 for children's ward at Epsom Hospital Staff at Casey Ward receive a cheque of £1,000 from fashion show organisers Becci Devonport (with son Jack) and Georgina Potter.The organisers of a charity fashion show dropped in to Epsom Hospital recently to present the children's ward with a cheque for £1,000. The event was organised by Surrey residents Georgina Potter and Becci Devonport to raise money for Casey Ward, where Becci's son Jack has recently spent time as a patient. 16 August 2011
  • Healthcare assistant takes to the skies for charity Carol FletcherA health care assistant at St Helier Hospital is preparing to leap from a plane at 10,000 feet next month, all in the name of charity. Carol Fletcher, who works in the gynaecology outpatients department (where infertility, bladder control and problems linked to the menopause are all treated), will be taking the plunge to raise money for UNICEF and the work that they're doing to battle the famine in Somalia. 12 August 2011
