In today's News of the World there is a list of 35 hospitals where they say that A&E (accident and emergency) or maternity units will shut. The list incorrectly includes the A&E department at Epsom Hospital.
Antony Tiernan, Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, said: "On behalf of the Trust, I would like to make it very clear that we have absolutely no plans to shut the A&E department at Epsom Hospital.
"Epsom's A&E continues to be extremely popular with the local community and sees almost 60,000 patients a year. Unfortunately, the News of the World did not approach us before including the hospital in their list and we have asked them to correct the online version of the paper. We've also asked for a correction to be printed in next week's edition.
