  • £10,000 donation gives trainee surgeons a look through the keyhole Matthew Hopkins, Chief ExecutiveTrainee surgeons at Epsom Hospital can now practice complex 'keyhole' techniques using state-of-the-art simulators, thanks to a charity which supports the hospital's work. Epsom Medical Equipment Fund officially presented two cutting edge laparoscopy (keyhole) simulators, which cost £5,000 each, to the hospital last Wednesday (19 January). 26 January 2011

  • Newborn babies in safe hands at the Trust Dr Rim El-rifaiNew figures from a national report show that premature and newborn babies born at Epsom and St Helier hospitals are receiving some of the best care in the country. The report, published by the Centre for Maternal and Child Enquiries, shows that the death rate of newborns delivered at our hospitals was significantly less than the national average. 18 January 2011

  • Happy new ears - hospital hearing aids arrive in Sri Lanka The charity Helplanka is handing over the hearing aids to the Nuffield Deaf School in the city of Jaffna, Sri LankaHearing aids donated by Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust are now helping children in Sri Lanka, thanks to a charity based in Carshalton. The hearing aids, which belonged to NHS patients who now have newer digital models, were donated by the Trust to the charity Helplanka in November last year. 12 January 2011
