Here are six things you can do to help us to help you:
-
Get a flu jab.
Doctors at Epsom and St Helier hospitals are repeating their call for local people to be vaccinated against flu this winter, as a number of people have been admitted to our hospitals with flu-related conditions.
-
Catch it, bin it, kill it.
Help yourself and others by not spreading the virus: Cold and flu germs can live on some surfaces for hours. To protect yourself and others this winter, always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze.
-
Choose well: get the right NHS care.
The campaign, which is backed by posters displayed around the Trust's hospitals, uses a colour coded thermometer as its logo and aims to reduce the number of people visiting A&E by helping them to associate the severity of their symptoms with a particular NHS service.
-
Keep warm, keep well this winter.
This national campaign aims to reduce cold-related illnesses and deaths during winter. The initiative offers practical information and advice about how to stay well in the cold, as well as the financial support available.
-
Don't visit patients in hospital if you've had diarrhoea/vomiting.
The seasonal norovirus is very infectious and outbreaks often occur in the community, particularly in schools and offices.
-
Donate blood.
A senior doctor at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust has made an urgent appeal for local people to give blood after the NHS Blood Service reported that stocks are running low. You can give blood at St Helier Hospital
