22 June 2011
Matthew Hopkins, Chief Executive of Epsom, St Helier and Sutton hospitals joined thousands of other cyclists across the country today (21 June 2011) to celebrate national bike week.
Matthew, who is an avid cyclist and cycles to work from his home in New Malden most days, is keen to encourage other people to cycle. He said: "Cycling is a great way to keep fit and stay healthy. It's also really good for the environment and, for those who want to save a few pounds, it's a lot cheaper than driving a car or travelling on public transport."
Team Green Britain Bike Week is the UK's biggest mass participation cycling event - last year almost half a million people participated at events across the country. The aim is to get more people cycling, more often, and the event offers something for everyone - from families, schools and companies, to seasoned cyclists and those who have never cycled before.
