The Chairman of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, John Davey, has announced that he will not be seeking reappointment when his term of office comes to an end in July.
John has been with the Trust for five years, serving nearly four years as Chairman. He said: "I am very proud of the progress we have made in recent years: the feedback we get from both patients and staff has improved significantly and we have consistently met the key standards the Government expects of hospitals.
"We have balanced our books year on year and, importantly, secured more than £219 million of public funding to radically transform the St Helier Hospital site. New investment has also been ploughed into Epsom Hospital, including, in recent months, £2.5 million on revamping the day case unit and £1 million on a brand new theatre for the Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
"I am extremely pleased with what we have achieved and I think it is a good time for me to hand the baton over to a new Chair. I would like to thank all of our staff and volunteers for their support during my time with the Trust, including my executive and non-executive colleagues."
A replacement for John will be recruited over the next couple of months, with support from the Appointments Commission.
