Has one of our nurses, midwives or healthcare assistants made a real difference to you, a friend, or a member of your family? The most senior nurse at Epsom, Sutton and St Helier hospitals is asking local people who have experienced excellent nursing care to put them forward for a national award.
The Claire Rayner Patient's Choice Award 2011, which is organised by the Nursing Standard with support from the Patients' Association, is looking for nominations of nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants who go above the call of duty for their patients.
The Trust's Director of Nursing, Pippa Hart, said: "So many of our nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants go that extra mile for their patients day in day out. I know from the number of compliment letters and thank you cards we receive just how good a job they do in providing the highest standards of care.
"There are almost 2,000 nurses, midwifes and healthcare assistants across our hospitals and I am sure that many local people - whether they have simply had an outpatient appointment or have had to stay for a few days - have experienced their care, kindness and compassion.
"If a member of the nursing team has made a real difference to you or a loved one, please think about nominating them. Nursing is a demanding profession, and awards like this are a real opportunity to recognise those staff who are willing to go their extra mile for their patients."

After voting closes, an expert panel of judges will select three finalists. Members of the public will then be invited to vote for the nurse who they believe most deserves the accolade.
The winner will receive their award - including a prize of £1,000 - at a prestigious ceremony, held at the Hilton Park Lane in London on 22 March 2012.
