The MP for Carshalton and Wallington, Tom Brake, took time out from his busy schedule on 14 October 2011 to present a show on Radio St Helier.

Tom joined forces with Radio St Helier volunteers, including station manager Kevin Horkan and presenter Chris Money, to take part in the light music show - a mixture of music, patient requests and current affairs.

Deputy Director of Operations, Debbie Frodsham and matron Pippa King were also on hand to take Tom round some of the wards at the hospital, where he met with patients and took their song requests.

Speaking after the show, Tom said: "I've had the good fortune to meet with a number of patients this evening, and I am pleased to say that they were all very positive about the care that they are receiving at the hospital.

"It's very important for me as a local MP, with a large hospital in my constituency, to meet informally with patients and get their feedback about St Helier. I have had a wonderful time at the radio station and I hope that we've put on a good show."

During the show, Tom introduced a number of classic songs for patients across the hospital, including Moon River by Andy Williams, a piece by Handel and Brother's Love Travelling Salvation Army by Neil Diamond. Tom's own personal request, which he says is a fantastic track to run to, was AC/DC's Back in Black.

Debbie Frodsham said: "We were pleased to welcome Tom to the hospital, and it was a pleasure to watch as he chatted to patients and presented the radio show.

"On behalf of the Trust, our patients and Radio St Helier, I would like to say a huge thank you to Tom for giving up his time to pay us a visit. I would also like to pay tribute to the volunteers at Radio St Helier - it was another great show, as usual."
