  • Electric dreams - local hospitals launch green car schemes A charging unit being installed by Adam Law and Elliott RossEpsom, Sutton and St Helier hospitals will be among the first NHS hospitals in the UK to start offering free electricity to patients and visitors driving electric or duel-fuel ('hybrid') cars. From 16 April 2012, special charging units in the car parks will allow people to charge their vehicle for free, whilst they attend an appointment or visit their friends and family in the hospitals. 30 March 2012

  • Food for thought - recycling initiative takes off at Trust Gloria Randall, the Trust's waste managerEpsom and St Helier hospitals have joined a new recycling initiative that sees food waste from the hospitals being turned into rich fertiliser for local farms. And just five months after the Trust joined the scheme, more than 12 tonnes of waste has been diverted away from landfill sites and 'ploughed' back into the earth. 20 December 2010

  • Treading carefully - Trust reduces carbon footprint Energy saving posterEpsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust saved energy and money this Easter, following a campaign to turn off lights and computers that were not in use. New figures from the Trust show a record breaking dip in the amount of energy used over the Easter bank holiday. 06 May 2009
