  • Cardiac rehabilitationThe cardiac rehabilitation programme is designed for those people who have suffered a recent heart attack (myocardial infarction) and/or have undergone coronary intervention.
  • Acute medical unitsPatients are sent to the acute medical unit (AMU) from A&E or can be referred directly by their GP. Patients will be seen by the AMU medical team within two hours and assessed to determine the time that they are likely to stay in hospital.
  • PaediatricsThe Trust provides a wide range of services and facilities for children and young people, and information and support for their parents. Services are provided from Epsom Hospital, Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, and a wide range of community settings, including children's own homes.
  • Cardiology (heart)The cardiology department offers inpatient and outpatient treatment for patients with coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure and any other heart problems.
  • Rapid access chest pain clinicThe rapid access chest pain clinic is for the diagnosis of new onset angina. Patients are usually referred by their GP, however referrals are also accepted from A&E and in-house consultant-to-consultant referrals.
  • Cancer servicesThe cancer services department provides support to all of the cancer site-specific services that the Trust offers colorectal, upper GI (gastrointestinal), lung, urology, gynaecology, haematology and dermatology.
  • Collecting stool samples for detection of occult bloodn order that your test results are as reliable as possible, please follow these precautions in the four days before collecting the first sample, and for the duration of the test (one collection on each of three consecutive days).
  • CytopathologyCytopathology is a branch of pathology that studies and diagnoses diseases on the cellular level. The most common use of cytopathology is the smear test, used to detect cervical cancer at an early, treatable stage.
  • Chronic Fatigue SyndromeThe chronic fatigue service at St Helier and Sutton hospitals is the local multidisciplinary team (LMDT) and clinical network co-ordinating centre for people with chronic fatigue syndrome in southwest London and Surrey.
  • Chemical pathologyThe department of chemical pathology and metabolism has laboratories based at Epsom Hospital and St Helier Hospital offering a diagnostic and advisory service to the local and wider health economy.
  • Women's health counselling serviceInformation about the women's health counselling service and how referrals are made.
  • Assisted conception unitThe assisted conception unit (ACU) at St Helier Hospital prides itself on being a small, enthusiastic and professional team, offering a very personalised and sensitive service to couples who are having problems conceiving.
  • ColposcopyColposcopy is a microscopic examination of the cervix (the neck of the womb) and can also check the vagina and vulva (external opening of vagina). The examination usually lasts between 10-15 minutes.
  • OncologyIf you have been referred to St Helier Hospital by your GP with suspected cancer, you will initially be assessed in the "two-week rule" clinic.
  • Cataract serviceThe cataract service is headed by five consultant ophthalmic surgeons who undertake modern small incision cataract surgery under local anaesthesia. There are dedicated day case units situated on ward C2 at St Helier Hospital and the day case unit at Epsom Hospital.
  • Ophthalmic accidents and emergenciesThe department deals with a variety of patients with a variety of ophthalmic accidents and emergencies. The senior nursing staff will triage and the patients are then seen in order of clinical priority.
  • Centre of pain educationAt the centre of pain education (COPE), we aim to help people cope with the challenges and difficulties that living with chronic pain brings. The service we offer includes a half day introductory education programme, multidisciplinary assessment, an eight week group pain management programme, or individual programmes and therapy.
