  • Macular degeneration serviceMacular degeneration is a devastating condition that can lead to blindness. There are two types, dry and wet macular degeneration.

  • Maternity assessment unitThe maternity assessment unit provides a "walk-in" service for women who are at least 20 weeks pregnant and have either been referred by a health professional or have a concern themselves regarding their pregnancy.
  • Medical investigation unit (metabolic medicine)This unit carries out specialised tests for consultants, GPs and midwives. It is under the supervision of Dr J. Barron, consultant, and is staffed by clinical nurse specialists.
  • MicrobiologyThe microbiology laboratories at Epsom and St Helier hospitals provide a 24-hour quality diagnostic, interpretative and clinical service.
  • Oral and Maxillo-facial surgery for adultsWe are a referral service for dental practitioners and GPs. The backbone of our work is oral surgery for patients with underlying health issues or problematic extractions, dental phobics or anxieties.
  • RadiologyThe radiology department provides diagnostic and research imaging services to help clinicians and the hospital teams in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. These services include general radiology, fluoroscopy (screening), ultrasound, nuclear medicine, dental imaging, computerised tomography (CT scan) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
