Respiratory services (airways clinic)

The airways clinic team targets patients with chronic lung conditions. We aim to:

  • maximise appropriate therapy

  • monitor and treat patients

  • avoid hospital admission

  • aid smooth discharge.

By supporting patients and their carers, we encourage them to develop skills to cope and manage their lung conditions. End stage patients are also given support.

All patients requiring possible long term oxygen are assessed and monitored as required.

We work closely with the respiratory consultants and medical team, stop smoking services, Breathe Easy group, respiratory physiotherapists, community and primary care services, and ward staff.

Services we offer

  • Outpatient clinics

  • Home visits

  • Ward rounds and assessments

  • Airborne allergy testing

  • Hyper-reactivity testing

  • Education programmes for all health care staff in both primary and secondary care, patients and carers

  • Oxygen and nebuliser assessment clinics

  • Pulmonary rehabilitation programmes

We also offer contact tracing and screening to schools and institutions (including those out of our area).
