Our staff

The renal unit is staffed by 13 consultant nephrologists, two tiers of junior doctors, renal nurses including a number of clinical nurse specialists, and a number of dedicated support staff, including a renal specialist pharmacist, social worker and dieticians.

The unit is also supported by a dedicated team of administrative staff and technical teams including IT and maintenance for all of our medical equipment.


Consultant staff

The clinical service is also supported by visiting surgeons from the renal surgical network based at St George's Hospital, including:

  • Mr Eric Chemla - lead clinician for the vascular access program

  • Mr Jiri Fronek - lead clinician for live donor transplants

  • Mr Mohammed Morsy - lead clinician for renal surgery research

  • Mr Nicos Kessaris - lead clinician for transplantation

The directorate employs over 250 staff and is managed by:

  • Dr Peter Andrews, clinical director

  • Dr Fiona Harris, clinical lead

  • Mr Steve Simper, general manager

  • Mrs Susie Mallinder, joint head of nursing

  • Mrs Sue Woodcock, joint head of nursing

  • Mrs Sara Jobson, service manager
