Trauma and orthopaedics

The trauma and orthopaedics department of the Trust provides acute care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries (such as fractures and dislocations) as well as planned care for patients with bone and joint disorders and the care of children with orthopaedic problems. Specialist services are offered in a number of different areas.

The department is actively involved in training junior doctors and teaching medical students from St George's Medical School.

The department offers care for almost the entire range of orthopaedic problems. The Elective Orthopaedic Centre (EOC) is recognised as a national centre of excellence.

Outpatient services

Outpatient services are offered at St Helier Hospital, Sutton Hospital, Nelson Hospital,  Epsom Hospital and Leatherhead Hospital.

Inpatient services

Inpatient services are offered at St Helier and Epsom hospitals as well as the Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Epsom.

Day surgery

Day surgery is offered at St Helier, Sutton and Epsom hospitals.

Paediatric services

Children’s orthopaedic services are provided at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children (QMHC) and Epsom Hospital.
