Mid-Surrey child health provides an integrated service: work takes place at Epsom Hospital as well as eight community health clinics, 75 state schools and 12 special schools and units.
The mid-Surrey child development centre operates in the Ashtead health clinic. A weekly, multidisciplinary Junior Opportunities Group is run for pre-school children in the area with special education needs and chronic handicapping conditions.
Medical support is also provided for adoption and fostering, child protection and looked-after children, as well as children with special educational needs and chronic handicapping conditions. We have close working relationships with social services, education and primary health care services.
Therapy teams are provided by Central Surrey Health and include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, and speech and language therapists also work as integrated departments, working closely with medical and nursing staff as part of a multidisciplinary team.
There is also an excellent community dental service for children with special needs.
