We have two dedicated children's wards in the Trust: Casey ward at Epsom Hospital and the children's ward at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children.
Our children's wards care for children with a variety of surgical, orthopaedic and medical conditions.
The children's ward at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children also provides specialist care for cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease and llizarov fixation (a leg lengthening procedure for children who have shortened limbs).
Casey ward provides expertise in caring for children with special needs, and a shared-care oncology service - sharing the care and management of cancer in children with the Royal Marsden Hospital.
Children who are sick enough to require intensive care will be collected by a specialist team which includes senior doctors and nurses. They will stabilise and transport the child to the nearest children's intensive care facility with an available bed.
Parents can stay on the inpatient wards by the side of their child; fold-away beds are provided at night. There are also parents' sitting rooms on both wards where parents can take a break and make themselves a drink.
