Oncology shared care

Epsom Hospital is a paediaric oncology shared care unit (POSCU).

It maintains strong links with primary treatment centres, including the Royal Marsden and Great Ormond Street hospitals.

All children undergoing treatment for cancer and for one year post completion of treatment have 24 hour open access to advice from the on-call paediatric registrar.

There is a named children's community nurse (CCN) for each child. The CCN works as part of a team that undertake home visits to carry out nursing care including blood test and intravenous antibiotics and offer support to the child and family. We will liaise with the child's school or nursery to facilitate a child's return to school.

We have links with Rainbow Trust, CHASE and Shooting Star to offer ongoing support to children with life threatening or life limiting conditions. We offer 24 hour on-call for palliative care.
