Family planning clinics

What service is available at family planning walk-in clinics?

Family planning clinics provide a free and confidential walk-in service from ten sites in Sutton and Merton. They can provide contraceptive advice and free prescribing of contraceptives. They can also advise you about how to have a healthy baby, how to access emergency contraception, pregnancy testing and termination of pregnancy referrals. We also provide cervical smear screening for women registered within NHS Sutton and Merton.

Family planning clinics cannot screen for, or treat sexually transmitted diseases - please refer to sexual health clinics.

Sutton and Merton family planning walk-in clinics

If you are under 20, you can come and visit any of our 'check it out' clinics to discuss any concerns you may have about your contraceptive or sexual health. There are also 'check it out' clinics in schools and youth clubs, ask for a leaflet or call 020 8407 3636 for more details. Young people are also welcome at all of our clinics.

Emergency contraception is available free from our clinics. Some local pharmacies also provide EHC free for those aged 19 and under. You can also buy it from most pharmacies if you are over 16. It usually costs around £25.

All of our contraception and sexual health clinics offer a full range of contraception and cervical screening. We offer a walk-in, 'first come, first served' service, without the need for an appointment.

For general enquiries or specialist services for psychosexual counselling, menopause counselling and implant removals, which are only available by appointment, please contact the main office on 020 8544 6140.

Limited appointments are also available for implant, IUD and Mirena (IUS) fitting for contraception and/or heavy periods.
