The Trust has two cancer information and support centres: the Macmillan Butterfly Centre at Epsom Hospital and the Cancer Information and Support Centre at St Helier Hospital.

Who we are

The cancer information and support centres at both hospitals offer information and support in a friendly, relaxing environment.

We have professional staff and experienced volunteers available to help anyone affected by cancer. We can help you if you have cancer yourself, care for someone with cancer or want to simply find out more about cancer.

Both centres provide a friendly and relaxing environment offering free information and support on:

  • cancer awareness and prevention;

  • signs and symptoms to look out for;

  • treatments;

  • emotional support;

  • access to complementary therapies;

  • links to other appropriate organisations.

What we offer

We offer you:

  • emotional support;

  • a course on how to live with and manage the cancer experience;

  • confidential counselling;

  • a range of complementary therapies.

  • Emotional supportStaff at both centres are here to listen to and discuss your views and concerns, and provide a full range of relevant information on cancer awareness, prevention, diagnosis, treatments and all aspects of cancer care.
  • Cancer information libraryBoth centres have a well stocked cancer information library, containing up-to-date information on cancer awareness and prevention and on all types of cancers and their treatment.
  • Supportive therapiesSupportive therapies can play a part in alleviating distress for some cancer patients. They can offer a holistic approach to cancer care and can result in patients feeling more empowered over their illness.
  • Cancer patient forumAre you a cancer patient, or do you care for someone who has cancer? Would you like to help improve local cancer services? Your experience is valuable to us and we welcome your comments and suggestions. Please come and join us to help improve cancer services in our hospitals.
  • Managing the cancer experience courseIt is well understood that when people have knowledge and emotional support they are better able to cope with their situation. With this understanding in mind this course has been developed by people with cancer, their relatives, friends and health carers.
  • Independent living sessionsThe Cancer Information and Support Centre at St Helier Hospital, where local cancer patients and their loved ones can go for practical advice, emotional support and complementary therapies, is hosting a series of events to promote independent living.
