Pre-employment checks

You will be asked for a series of pre-employment checks before starting work in the Trust:

Verification of identity

Your identity will be verified by checking one of the following: valid passport, UK driving license, original UK birth certificate, valid photo ID card (EU countries only) or UK firearms license.

Work permits

If are an overseas national (ie outside of the United Kingdom or the European Union) and want to work in the UK, you will probably require a work permit. Visit the Home Office website for more information.

Qualifications

The Trust will verify your relevant qualifications once a job offer is made.

Registration

Before appointing a health professional, the employer will check whether you are registered with the relevant regulatory body and whether any special conditions apply. If applicable, please see the NHS Careers website for contact details of your relevant professional body. They have in-depth information about registration for each profession.

Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks

Employers may ask for a CRB check depending on the type of work you will be doing. The CRB checks to see if you have any police records, and gives this report to both you and the employer. The employer will then decide whether it is appropriate to employ that individual.

Occupational health checks

All staff have an occupational health check to ensure that they are fit for work, and so that they can be given any adaptations they need to do their jobs, such as specialist equipment if they are disabled.
