Mr Vipul Patel joined Epsom and St Helier as Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in 2001. He has been instrumental in setting up the Shoulder and Elbow Service at St Helier hospital and introducing shoulder and elbow surgery to SWLEOC.

Mr Patel qualified in Ahmedabad, India and completed his basic and higher surgical training in the South West Thames region. He spent a year on fellowship in Baltimore, USA.

Mr Patel is actively involved in training and offers a BOA clinical leaders’ fellowship for senior trainees. Mr Patel’s research interests include PROMs (Patient reported outcome measures) and his work has been presented at international meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals.

Regional Clinical Co-ordinator, National Joint Registry (Jan 2016 - ).
Clinical Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics (2008-12).

Arthroscopic (key-hole) surgery of the shoulder treating.
Rotator cuff disorders.
Shoulder instability and labral tears.
Frozen shoulder.
Shoulder replacement including Resurfacing and Reverse shoulder replacements.
Surgery for disorders of the elbow including arthroscopy and elbow replacement.
Surgery for sports injuries, fractures and dislocations of the shoulder and elbow.
Reconstructive surgery for sequelae of trauma around the shoulder and elbow.
Mr Patel offers clinics at St Helier Hospital and at SWLEOC, Epsom.
