Consultant Ophthalmologist, Cataract and Vitreoretinal Surgeon
Edward Lee specialises in vitreoretinal and cataract surgeries, and retinal conditions including macular holes, epiretinal membranes, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration. He also specialises in acute and general ophthalmology and leads weekly eye casualty clinics.
He has regular retinal clinics at both St Helier and Epsom hospitals, during which retinal lasers can be performed and selected treatments given. Retinal and cataract surgeries are performed with the very latest small gauge equipment.
Edward gained his ophthalmology training and subspecialty expertise within London hospitals, as well as medical school training at Oxford University and some work overseas. He also performed subspecialist fellowships at St.Thomas’ and Moorfields Eye Hospitals.
Special interests and treatments
Edward was awarded a PhD for his research into Molecular Genetics and Retinal Gene therapies at the world leading UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. He has in excess of 35 peer-reviewed publications (see www.eyedoctor.london) and continues to supervise a research project related to improving patient outcomes following retinal detachment surgeries.
