Dr Lydia Jones is the lead consultant for haematology services and blood sciences at Epsom Hospital. She trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London. Dr Jones completed specialty training in haematology at Royal London, North Middlesex and Hammersmith hospitals. She has led the development of haemato-oncology services at Epsom, contributing to the establishment of the Macmillan Butterfly Cancer Centre and the Haematology and Medical Day Unit. She was the trust’s Clinical Director for Cancer Services from 2006 to 2013. She is an Examiner at the Royal College of Pathologists and chair of the Grand Round at Epsom. Dr Jones is a participant in multi-centre clinical trials in haemato-oncology open within the trust.
Special interests and treatments
Anaemias, acute and chronic leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma, myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic disorders, auto-immune cytopenias, assessment of bleeding or thrombotic tendency, haemochromatosis, general paediatric haematology. Procedures performed: bone marrow biopsies, supervision of oral and intravenous chemotherapy, blood product support, intravenous immunoglobulin, phlebotomy for polycythaemia and iron overload, anticoagulant therapy.
