Dr Ruth Shephard is a Consultant Neonatologist. Neonatology is a subspecialty of paediatrics which focuses primarily on the medical needs of newborn babies, or neonates.

Dr Ruth Shephard trained as a paediatrician with sub-speciality training in neonatology.
She works mainly in the neonatal service doing both inpatient and outpatient work.
She also has general paediatric patients both inpatients and outpatients at QMHC.
She is a Training Programme Director for the School of Paediatrics, London Deanery.
Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, member of Thames Regional Perinatal Group, British Association of Perinatal Medicine and Pan-London Perinatal Group.
Neonatal patients and children up to 1 year

Cardiac liaison paediatrician. Arrange initial assessment and investigations at QMHC. Organise joint clinic at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children with Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist from the Royal Brompton Hospital at least four times a year.

Dr Shephard attends on NNU on a 1 in 4 basis.

Special interests and treatments
She is committed to teaching and training doctors and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Dr Shephard was RCPCH Tutor for several years. She is a Training Programme Director (TPD) for South London responsible for organising the ST1-3 Paediatrics Programme.
