Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Medicine
Dr Thomas Medveczky MRCP, PgC(Allergy), MD, PhD – Consultant Physician, Specialist in Respiratory Medicine and General/ Internal Medicine.
Dr Medveczky qualified from Charite School of Medicine in Berlin in 2004, with training attachments at teaching hospitals of the University of Cambridge and Bristol. He has practiced medicine in the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland and speaks all three languages fluently. He completed his training as a Respiratory Specialist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
He has extensive academic research and teaching experience in asthma and allergy, being awarded a Doctorate of Medicine with distinctions from the Humboldt University of Berlin in the field of Respiratory Immunology as well as completing a Diploma in Allergy from Imperial College London.
He continues to teach and train medical students and nurses as Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at St George’s Medical School, University of London.
Dr Medveczky works also as Advisor to the British Thoracic Society, and was instrumental in developing and creating national treatment guidelines for patients with COPD.
He joined Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2015 and held senior appointments as Clinical Lead for the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Clinical Representative to the Respiratory CAG Sutton CCG and Clinical Lead Community Respiratory Services London Borough of Merton and is now the Clinical Director (Inpatient) Medicine at St Helier Hospital.
Special interests and treatments
Diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all conditions leading to disorders of breathing, chest infections, cough and any worrisome symptoms related to Respiratory and General Medicine.
His particular field of expertise is diagnosis and treatment of asthma and smoking related lung conditions (eg COPD).
