Big thanks for £5,000 donation to support patients young and old

Some of the youngest and oldest patients cared for at Epsom Hospital are set to benefit from a generous donation of £5,000 from the Tattenham Community Association, following a cheque presentation from the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead on Saturday (15 February).

The funds will be split between Croft Ward – the hospital’s Frailty Unit that provides rehabilitation care to patients to help them live as independently as possible, and Casey Ward – the dedicated children’s ward at the hospital.

Chief Executive Daniel Elkeles said: “This generous donation is going to make a real difference to our patients, and will be put to good use for our older and younger patients. I would like to say a huge thank you to the Tattenham Community Association and all those who supported their fundraising.

“On Casey Ward, the money raised will fund a new laptop so that young patients can stay up-to-date with their school work while they’re in hospital, as well as a number of sensory toys to help keep boredom at bay. Over in Croft Ward, the donation will fund new fold up beds so that relatives can stay overnight with patients, as well as new TVs that will help to keep patients entertained during their time on the ward. These touches will be warmly welcomed by our patients and their loved ones, and so thanks again to Tattenham Community Association!”

If you would like to raise funds for our hospital or community services, please get in touch with our official charity – you can email them at esth.fundraising@nhs.net or call on 01372  735 452. People are also warmly invited to take part in one of our upcoming fundraising events, including Walk4Wards (a seven and a half mile walk between the two hospitals, which last year raised £29,000), or the London to Paris bike ride.
