Mighty sunflowers from small green fingers grow

Sunflowers planted by the children at Willows Nursery at Sutton Hospital have grown beyond all expectations, with some surpassing the 10 foot mark.

Nursery Manager, Caroline Thomas, said: “We are so delighted with how well the sunflowers have done! It’s taken some tender loving care, as every morning the children went into the garden and made sure they had plenty of water. The children and staff even helped them to grow by talking and singing to them!

“We were lucky these ones grew as the squirrels ate the original seeds we planted – the children are delighted that they’ve made it through!”

The nursery currently has spaces available for young children. To find out more, please call Caroline on 020 8296 3939.
